This is a Goodbye...

Hello again!

There comes a time when you realise that something you had high hopes and dreams for may not go to plan.

Now I believe this isn't ‘failing’ or ‘giving up’… I think this is me realising that perhaps I can’t commit my life to this right now.

As you may have seen my once busy blog – with at least 2/3 posts a week has slowed down somewhat. This has been down to a mixture of things and I want to be honest with you so you too can understand my journey. This has been on my mind for a little while now and I've had to really make sure on what is right thing to do, for me.

Firstly finding new material to write about as a beauty blogger usually means I invest in some new product (yay). But when I'm trying to be a good girl and budget my wallet isn’t so happy about this. So I don’t write as much (boo!).

Secondly my family is my focus – forever and always they come first. This means I may not find the time to write sometimes or will find it hard to get in the ‘zone’ so I’m able to write well (well the best I can!).

Thirdly I'm focusing on my work/life balance and now I'm back at work my ‘free time’ is limited a little more – meaning less writing time.

So really, to gain a little more balance in my life this sadly is goodbye, at least for now.

This hasn't been an easy decision and there will be days were I really miss writing but I don’t like to do things half-hearted. For me it’s all or nothing and if I can’t give my all I don’t want to let you (and myself) down.

I have really enjoyed writing and meeting so many lovely people along the way – thank you for all your support over this past year or so! You have been the reason why I would go back and write new material every week!

Keep happy, keep busy and keep writing fellow bloggers!!

Elemis vs Boots Botanics Brightening Balms

Hi and welcome back to my blog!

This week I was trying the much talked about dupe for Elemis from Boots, the Botanics All Bright Radiance Balm (link).

Now I loveeee my Elemis Pro Radiance Illuminating Flash Balm but I'm not so much in love with it's price tag. When I had heard that Boots had released their own version and people were comparing it to the Elemis I had to dive in and give it a test run too!

This balm is £5.99 and oh my do you get a lot for such a tiny price tag!

This is light and creamy, much like the Elemis balm and glides on without making your skin greasy - massive win!! This looks gorgeous under makeup and gives my skin a wonderful pop of 'glow' too.

The one thing I wasn't so sure on was the amount of shimmer this product has. When you first put it on - oh my I looked like a disco ball! But after a few minutes of letting it sink into my skin and then applying my usual foundation, it actually looked pretty nice.

Now if it came down to it and I had to pick one, I would still pick the Elemis just because it just works - it's effortless and gorgeous - on its own or under makeup. The Botantics balm I would only ever feel comfortable wearing under makeup but I would still say it's worth a go - especially if you're after a more budget friendly option!

Have you discovered any beauty dupes at the moment?

Winter Lips

Hi and welcome back to yet another post! :)

This week I thought I would do a nice little seasonal post and as the nights have gotten darker so has my lip colour. I thought it would be nice to show you my 'darker' side to lipsticks and possibly give you a reason to go shopping (sorry wallet!!).

My lip colours of choice this Autumn/Winter have been...

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in Nude-ist - This stuff is amazing! One application lasts hours and a little goes a long way too. As it's a long lasting wear product it does tend to dry out your lips a little but for hours of colour I don't mind. I have several of these but this is the most perfect shade for winter!

Avon Lipstick in Ravishing Rose - I originally bought this for my wedding a few years ago but it was much darker than I imagined. The colour is a beautiful deep pink/red that lasts for hours. My only issue with this product is that it does dry out the lips a little and can become patchy after a few hours of wear but for the price tag it's definitely worth it!

Mac Lipstick in Syrup (Lustre) - I love this shade from Mac, it's a slightly more pink choice in Winter but as it's a Lustre finish it stays put really well and gives me a pop of 'girliness' in the cooler months.

Gosh Lipstick in Plum (Matt) - This is quite a darker shade for me and a very daring colour to wear. This has been marked as a dupe for Mac's Rebel so if you're thinking of trying that but not the price tag this is a good one to go for. I love the shade of this and as it's matt finish it lasts really well on the lips. I have worn this a few times and honestly felt more confident than I ever have! This lipstick either has wonder powers or is really that gorgeous - either way a win for me!!

Rimmel Kate Lipstick in 01 - This is from Kate Moss' new lipstick range by Rimmel. I picked this shade as it looked like the most gorgeous pink/nude. I love having dark eye make up this time of year so a nude with that just looks perfect! This was a little paler than I expected but equally gorgeous too!

Dior Addict Extreme Lipstick in Cherie Bow - This one I use with special occasions in the Winter as it gives a gorgeous glossy lip colour that is classic and timeless. It makes me feel ready for a party and stays put for a while too! This one I will always have in my collection - it's just a holy grail lip colour for me.

Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Walkyrie - This was in my Cohorted September beauty box but oh my was it a treat! This gorgeous browny/red shade is perfect for Autumn and I have been using this 70% of the time this year! I love the fact that it lasts hours, is so easy to apply and doesn't dry out the lips too!

Mac Lipstick in Modesty (Cremesheen) - This is a solid favourite by all and yes yet again it's stays in my favourites too. This is a brown/nude shade and is gorgeous on every skin tone. I love this as an everyday colour all year round.

I'm sure as the months go on these will change a little and perhaps some darker shades my creep in but for now - these are my absolute favourites!

What lip colours have you been using this month? Any you would recommend? :)

My Favourite Lush Products

Hello lovelies!

This week I thought I would post about my current favourites from Lush. This is something that does tend to change every year as my taste changes and they bring out new products.

I've chosen my favourites from the main Lush line they do rather than the Halloween, Christmas, Mother's Day, etc collections.

At the moment my current favourites are... (drum roll please...!):

Dream Cream Hand & Body Lotion - This is my newest favourite from Lush as it's something I wasn't overly sold on, until I tried it! Oh my this stuff is amazing, it helps calm your skin and gives you lovely well moisturised skin after just one use.

Comforter Bubble Bar - This has been a staple favourite for years for me. Firstly it's pink which I love, also it smells gorgeous, like sweets!! I love bubble bars as for me a bath isn't complete without bubbles so I tend to use these more than bath bombs.

Comforter Shower Gel - This was an obvious pick for me as I love the scent so much. This again is a gorgeous pink shade and a little goes a long way. I went for the medium size but I know that this will last me a long time.

Twilight Bath Bomb - Again this is another staple for me. If you love all things lavender and relaxing than this is the bath bomb for you! I always have one of these in so if I'm needing an extra relaxation soak I can do thanks to this little one.

Bubblegum Lip Scrub - I'm on my second pot of this stuff now and I love it! I use it about once a week to help keep my lips soft. I would say a pot of this would last you between 8 months to a year if you use it once a week so a little goes a long way. The scent is also very yummy (very sweet smelling) so that's an added bonus (they have other scents if sweet isn't for you).

Cupcake Face Mask - I switch between this face mask and the Catastrophe Cosmetic mask depending on what my skin is in need of. Cupcake is good for those with oily skin and in need of some balancing out and Catastrophe Cosmetic is for skin in need of calming down and helping any breakouts. Both are gorgeous but for my the scent of Cupcake is why it wins my heart. It smells of chocolate!! For any chocolate lover this is the perfect face mask, just make sure you don't find it too much and try to eat it! ;)

Dragons Egg Bath Bomb - This is a new favourite of mine even though this prodict has been out for a while now. The scent of this is quite citrusy and vibrant, it reminds me of sherbert and honestly I'm amazed on how long I'd just been walking past this one! You pop it in the bath and not only does it fill your bathroom with it's gorgeous scent but it also has lovely little coloured flakes inside that help add a little bit of fun to your bathtime. I just love it and again I will always have this one in too!

Creamy Candy Bubblebar - I have loved this bubble bar well over a year but as I got pregnant I found it too sickly. Now however I'm back to loving it! It smells like the name suggests, sweets and as it's pink it creates a beautiful pink bubbly bath for you. I love that you can get several uses out of these bubble bars too - always a win!

Frozen Bath Bomb - Last but not least is one of the newest bath bombs from Lush, Frozen. This is based on the Disney film and doesn't disappoint. It's got a gorgeous blue glittery shade and when popped in your bath it transforms it into a wonderful lagoon with glitter! The scent isn't anything too strong either, it's quite neutral so if strong scents aren't your thing than this may be a good one to start with.

I hope you enjoyed my little post about my Lush favourites, as you can probably tell I'm a massive fan of the store - have been since I was 14 so I've tried a lot of their products!

Maple Holistics Argan Oil Shampoo & Conditioner Review & Giveaway!!

Hello again!

Now this week I was kindly sent some products to trial by Maple Holistics (link here).

Maple Holistics are an American based company and they specialise in cruelty free, organic products (yay!).

Now honestly this is the first time I had heard of the company but as a massive beauty fan I love to try new products so couldn't resist!

Maple Holistics Argan Oil Shampoo & Conditioner*
I must say this is my first time using Argan Oil shampoo and after using it all week I'm loving it! These make my hair wonderfully glossy, easy to manage and shiny! This is especially impressive as only last week I dyed it, so usually it's very dry and upset looking at this point!

You only need to add a little shampoo and it lathers up really well and the conditioner, well the second you apply it to your hair you can see it working - gorgeous silky hair in seconds!!

The scent is very mild and as it's organic and sulphate free I can imagine this shampoo and conditioner duo would be gentle on any sensitive scalps too!

My only slight judgement would be the packaging on the conditioner, I'm not so sold on the solid white label. I think maybe instead have the conditioner detailing marked with a white band around the bottom of the label. This may look a little more attractive in my bathroom, but honestly, if this is my only change than this product is a definite win by my books!

I'm so chuffed and thankful for the team at Maple Holistics for sending me these lovely products to sample - thank you so much! You have definitely made a customer out of me, your products are easy to use, organic, with gorgeous results and cruelty free - I think you have quickly become one of my favourite new brands!!

**GIVEAWAY!!** Have you tried any products from Maple Holistics? If not would you like to be in for a chance to try this Argan Oil Shampoo & Conditioner? All you have to do is tell me your current favourite hair product in the comment section below and I will pull the winner out of a hat of everyone who enters. Keep your eyes peeled as the winner will be announced by the 15th October 2015! Good luck!!

My Top 10 Instagram Pictures

Hi All! :)

This week I'm looking into my past, in fact my past Instgram pictures.

I have quite a few on there, more than I thought but picking my top 10 was easier than I thought it would be. Now some of them will be obvious choices to you but others have a nice little story behind them so if you're interested please keep reading :)

1. First up is a picture of one of our cats, Leo. I love this picture of him as he is looking hopeful for some of my food and is just waiting patiently. This sums his personality up beautifully. He is a cheeky monkey but he is also very well trained when it comes to being patient.

2. Secondly is a slightly more materialistic favourite but I was so chuffed with this I had to include it. This picture is of my newly purchased purse by Ted Baker. Now I know it's sad to include this but I really did love this purse as it was a visual reminder of my success at the time. I had worked hard for years to get my business and career to a really good place and as a treat I finally (after years of waiting) got this lovely purse.

3. This picture is of me and my brother on our birthday - we're not twins but we were born on the same day - I know, weird right?! Anyhoo, we just had a casual meal out but our birthdays are always a nice time to remind ourselves how close my brother and I are, and we will always continue to be. It doesn't matter how hard we're working, how busy we are, where we are - we always make time to catch up, even if it's just over text. I love that we're able to have a strong friendship as well as be brother and sister.

4. I love this picture as its taken shortly after we got married and I couldn't stop staring at my rings. I just loved that we had taken that next step in our lives and our wedding was truly magical.

5. This is a cheeky picture of my husband and me on New Years Eve 2013. I didn't drink anything that night as wasn't feeling it but we had the best time. Silly games, great people, good food - it was such a good night!

6. Haha. This picture is of me and Mike playing on GTAV together on the playstation. We used to play online together and do crazy missions. I love that we got to share the passion of gaming together in this game!

7. This picture is of my beautiful Mum when we went for an afternoon tea. Now not only is this special for me as my Mum is an amazing woman, but also this is the day I thought I may be pregnant. I remember hating the smell of alcohol and smoke and thinking.. oh wait... am I?! :D

8. This had to be included - a gorgeous scan picture of our wonderful baby boy! I loved this scan as it was so amazing seeing our little baby wiggle around on screen even though he was so little I couldn't yet feel his movements. It was just amazing, something I will never forget.

9. I love this picture so, so much! This is a picture of me and our little boy only about a month old here. I remember being so tired but so happy here. I could cuddle him all day but I needed sleep too. We both struggled and supported each other with our sleepless nights, yet all in all I wouldn't change any of it for the world. This boy is everything to us.

10. Finally one recent one of our gorgeous Son. I love this as this is on one of our Mom and Son days where we just go and explore and learn. We spent the morning seeing family, then read some books and played in the park. I love our bonding days.

So that's it, my top 10 pictures. Have you got some top 10 pictures you would like to share, I would love to see them and see why you picked those too!

If you're not already please follow me on Instagram here. I would love you to follow me and I will follow you back :)

Loreal Paris Studio Line Hot and Big Hair Spray Review

Hi everyone!

This week I'm featuring one my new favourite hair products from Loreal Paris. This is from their new line and they have a selection of different products to suit every hair type.

I went for the Hot & Big Spray to help try and give my long and thin hair a boost of volume. Now I have tried a lot of different volumising products but haven't gotten on with a lot of them as they can tend to weigh down the hair or make it appear greasy.

This works by spraying it into towel dried hair and spraying it directly onto the roots. You then use your hairdryer to dry your hair and flick your hair upside down to help boost the volume that much more.

Once dry and brushed you're left with wonderfully thick hair, it is amazing!!

I can't say I've seen such amazing results by any other volumsing products before, even those I've tried at the salon! Also as this is a highstreet/drugstore purchase it doesn't break the bank and is only £3.79!!

I absolutely love this and won't be buying anything else for volume now!

If you have thin hair or would just like to add a bit of a boost to your hair give this a try!

Cohorted Beauty Box - September 2015

Hi all!

This week I'm very excited to bring you my first ever beauty box, Cohorted September 2015! I was drawn to this box after reading amazing reviews and lusting over previous boxes on Jaina's WhichBeautyBox's blog (great blog by the way, make sure you follow her if you don't already!).

So this month's box... Well you're introduced to it's contents by a handy card which details what each product is and also it's value. This month's box is worth an impressive £71.50, the box only costs £19.99!

I must say I love the design of the box too, it's sleek black design with a bow to open is gorgeous!

It also arrived really quickly too and as you can imagine that was very handy considering how excited I was about having my first beauty box!

Anyhoo, lets get down to it.. so what is in the box?!

So this month's box contains:

theBalm Nude Tude Eyeshadow Palette (worth £35.00)

theBalm Put a Lid On It (sample size)

Gucci Premier Shower Gel (worth £7.50)

Molton Brown Seamoss Bath & Shower Gel (worth £10.00)

Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Walkyrie (worth £19.00)

I couldn't believe how many wonderful goodies were in this month's box and what a month to get my first beauty box - I was so chuffed!!

Now for me I fell in love with this box by simply the gorgeous eyeshadow palette by theBalm and also the lip pencil from Nars but I'm also really looking forward to trying the bath products and the sample primer too. They both smell gorgeous and who wouldn't want a little bit of Gucci in their bathroom? ;)

The eyeshadow palette from theBalm is gorgeous! It holds some beautiful shades from nudes to some deeper pinks, purples and browns. This palette is a great all rounder so I can imagine if you wanted one to take on holiday this would be a great pick.

The Nars Velvet Matte Lip Pencil is stunning too and lived up to my expectations. The colour is long lasting (although doesn't last through food), highly pigmented, lightweight so you actually forget you have it on and when it fades it fades nicely on the lips. I'm loving this and now am wanting to buy more!

All in all I loved this box and I'm so chuffed that I decided to give this one a go for my first too! The September box is now sold out but if you're looking to get one make sure you check out the Cohorted website for their next boxes.

My Moisturiser Collection

Hello again!

I have a new little post for you this week - my moisturiser collection and my thoughts on each. I have been meaning to do this post for a while but I wanted to get one more moisturiser to try out before giving my final thoughts.

Now I have funny old reasons why I have so many but I'll list the difference between these all below for you all and also my overall favourite at the moment too.

Soap and Glory Righteous Butter - £10 - Buy here
I love how thick and creamy this stuff is and after using it my skin always feels nice and hydrated. The scent isn't too overpowering either - it's such a calming smell compared to some of their other scents. Boots usually hold a 3 for 2 on the range so you can always stock up on a few items at a go.

Nivea Firming Lotion - £3.39 - Buy here
Now this one I bought after giving birth as I wanted something gentle with no or a very mild scent and also something that may help rehydrate my skin. This stuff ticked all those boxes at the time but now as I'm feeling more myself I don't tend to reach for this one often. Saying that I won't be throwing it out either, I like that it's got a mild to no scent so if you want something light on your skin before applying purfume this is perfect.

Lush Dream Cream - £11.95 - Buy here
This may be my new favourite. It's a calming scent that is light enough to not overpower any purfume. The creamy lotion can be applied to all skin types and will help most conditions, red bumps, spots and even some more severe conditions too (check the Lush website for recommendations). I used this on my legs just after shaving and it didn't case any discomfort and actually helped soothe my legs. It all calmed down any red bumps on my arms which I loved as nothing else has worked this quickly or well before! All in all, for me this is my new favourite - I can see why it's Lush's number 1 selling product!

Soap and Glory Smoothie Star Body Milk - £10 - Buy here
I used to love this body milk from Soap and Glory but now I find the scent of this one is too strong. Also if I put this on my legs after shaving it burns a little - not so nice. So this one has actually gone in the bin now for me. I'm not sure if this is a common side effect or I may just be super sensitive but I find the Dream Cream works much better for me.

Liz Earle Botanical Body Cream - £19 - Buy here
This is a joint favourite of mine. I think purely because the scent is gorgeous, the cream is nice to use as dries quickly and it's nice and calming to my skin. I wouldn't say it works as well on skin conditions as the Lush Dream Cream but it is a close second. If you're after something with a little more scent than this may be one to go for.

So that's it.. my current favourite is the Lush Dream Cream. Have you tried any that you think I may like and should try next? I would love to hear your suggestions!

My Top 10 Lipsticks/Lipglosses

Hello there!

This week I thought I would talk about my current top 10 lipsticks/lipglosses. I had quite a few to go through but I think I'm now down to my final 10.

Now as you can probably see by the picture, I love my pink shades but some of them are a little deeper than that with browns and reds also in the products. If you're looking for a new lipstick or gloss to try have a read, or if you're simply like me and like to be nosy and see what favourites people pick... Enjoy :)

Dior Addict Ultra Gloss Flash in 662 - This is a gorgeous red glittery lipgloss which is just perfect for Christmas and Autumn time.

Bourjois Colour Boost in Peach on the Beach - I love to use this lip colour while on the go with a busy day. The shade is a peachy/pink and is a great shade for a pop of colour in the office.

Dior Addict Extreme in 356 Cherie Bow - This is a very classic pinky brown which would suit most people. I use this lipstick for special events as it's such a elegant colour and goes with most outfits too.

Mac Cremesheen Sunny Seoul - This for me is just the perfect everyday lipstick. It's longlasting and gives your lips a gorgeous glossy pink boost without being too much or too obvious. I LOVEEEE this lipstick!

Mac Matte Please Me - I love the Mac matte lipsticks as they're so longlasting without being too dry on the lips. This is a pinky/brown shade and for me this is a great all rounder shade for most occasions. Plus if I'm having a busy Mom day this is perfect for staying put for hours too!

Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupte in 13 - This one is a fairly new purchase so I'm amazed how it's already moved it's way into my favourites but here we are. This lipstick is a little on the pricey side but it's very pretty. I have this in shade 13 which is a peach shade, perfect for Spring and Summer but also quite nice for nights out too.

Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupte Shine in 13 - This is similar to the lipstick above but has more gloss and shine to it, also it's in a beautiful shimmery pink shade - my favourite kind! Also may I just mention the packaging.. pretty stunning right?!

Dior Addict Ultra Gloss Reflect in 557 - This is a gorgeous pink lipgloss that I use sooo much in the Summer and evenings. I just love the effect it gives my lips, lots of gloss and sparkle but also a hint of pink colour. I love Dior lip products and I have a few but this one is always the first I pick out.

Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet in Happy Nude Year - I'm sure you have already heard about these but I really do love them and keep buying more and more. This shade is a pink/brown nude with a matte finish. These lip products last hours on your lips and usually only need a light touch up after meals (if that!). They're so handy to use when you have a busy day and honestly they impress me every time I use them.

NYX Butter Gloss in Tiramisu - Finally to finish on a gorgeous nude lipgloss. This has got to be my favourite nude lipgloss that I've tried. The finish is sheer with a hint of brown, it's not sticky and it smells divine! I can't believe that a £6.99 lipgloss is in my top 10 but it's not the price that matters, it's the quality and I'm loving this one right now! :)

What are your favourite lipsticks? Do you have any you think I should try out too? :)

How To Declutter Your Home

Hi,

This week I'm following on an old blog post of mine where I shared some of my own tips to giving myself a better and happier lifestyle. Following that article it became obvious that some of you may not know the best way to approach some of the tips I shared and so I'm giving you some further advice now.

Please bare in mind this is just what I find works for me, everyone has their own opinion and ways of doing things :)

Here is a basic set of rules I go about doing when I'm decluttering my home:

1. Focus on one area at a time - don't go mad and start throwing things every where. Go one drawer, one wardrobe, one room at a time.

2. If you haven't used it for 2 years get rid of it (unless it has any sentimental value)

3. Keep things remaining decluttered by finding storage solutions. Get pots for little items. Box up old clothes that you would like to keep but don't wear too often. Stack your most needed items somewhere you can access easily.

4. Bin any items out of date - this is one when clearing kitchen cabinets or medicine cabinets especially.

5. Stay strong. For those of you who like to hold on for things for years this one may be tough. Try to hand over what you can to charity and sell any items with value - giving or making a few pennies will make the separation of your old things easier to handle.

I hope you found this post useful and it this helps some of you!

Have you guys got any tips on decluttering your home? What works for you?

Thanks for reading!

Which Naked Pallet Is Right For You?

Hi,

This week I thought I would share with you my thoughts on my Urban Decay Naked pallets and the differences that each pallet have for those of you who are thinking of purchasing one.

So I bought these in a really random order, my first was Naked, then I bought Naked 3, then Naked Smoky and my latest purchase is actually the Naked 2  - confusing I know!

Anyway, here are the pallets in all their glory and the differences with each.

Naked (1)

Naked 1 is a mixture of deep browns holding some shimmer and some matte. This is a great pallet to start with as it will suit all skin tones. My favourite shades in this one is Virgin, Sidecar, Smog & Toasted.

Considering that I've had this for a few years now it's still going pretty strong! My only issue with this pallet is the packaging. The pallet is in a felt sort of packaging meaning it marks easily and there is no magnetic close so it can be knocked open too.

Naked 2
This is my newest addition to my collection so these pictures are of the item brand new.

This pallet is aimed at those with a cool undertone to their skin tone - so this pallet is perfect for me.

Again the packaging isn't my favourite but this one does snap shut so that's a definite improvement from the first pallet.

After using it a few times since purchasing I would say the shades that seem to be favourites in this pallet are; Suspect, Verve & YDK - these shades are just stunning!

Naked 3
I must admit I love this pallet so much but the colours don't work overly well on my skin tone. This pallet is aimed at those with a warm undertone to their skin but I just love pink shades and so this was an obvious purchase for me.

My go to shades in this pallet are; Strange, Limit, Nooner, Liar & Mugshot.

The packaging on this pallet is the same as the Naked 2 but this time with a rose gold outer casing.

Naked Smoky
This pallet as you may have seen with one of my recent posts is the latest release from Urban Decay.

The name probably gives it away, but this pallet is aimed for the smoky eye look. For that reason alone I almost didn't get it but honestly you can do so much with this pallet!

I love it's vast different shades and the packaging is also my favourite yet! The case is plastic but with a slick magnetic close - lovely!

My favourite shades in this pallet are; High, Armor, Slanted, Dagger & Password.

Finally a shot of all the pallets against each other

You can see here all the different shades and styles each pallet has.

I hope this has helped some of you see the differences in each pallet but also know why each are just as gorgeous too.

Have you tried any of the Naked pallets, if so what is your favourite? I think mine is between Naked 2 & Naked Smoky - I just love them!!

Emma Hardie Cleansing Balm Review

Hi,

Now I have reviewed this slightly before but I just feel that this product deserves a special post for itself.

I have been using this cleanser for about 8 months now and I've fallen in love with it!

This is an oil based cleanser that you put all over your face, over eye makeup - the lot! Then wash it off with the cloth provided and water. With just one application it removes all traces of makeup, including waterproof mascara!

Now the product itself - it's just a cleanser right? Well, it is but it's just gorgeous!

It smells super luxurious so that it makes you feel as if you're getting a facial each time you're using it (who wouldn't want a facial everyday?!). The packaging is really cute too and it looks so lovely on show in my bathroom.

But the best part for me is the finish it gives my skin, now that's the real winner here! It leaves my skin super clean, glowing, soft and smooth - much more than my Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanser (sorry!).

Also I've noticed this lasts a lot longer as you only need a little bit each time. I'm currently going through one pot for around 6 months at a time!

If you haven't yet tried this I would definitely say give it a go - it's my holy grail cleanser now! :)

Urban Decay Naked Smoky Pallet Review

Hi all!

Now if you follow me on Instagram you may already know that I purchased the new Urban Decay Naked Smoky Pallet - yay!!

This pallet is very different from the other three as it focuses on the smoky eye look rather than neutrals. At first this put me off as I wasn't sure if the shades were workable with other looks but after seeing it in person I took the leap and bought one!

Now the pallet itself...

As you can see it has various shades in there but mainly focusing on some dark greys and browns. With 12 shades to this pallet you have plenty to work with and each are highly pigmented so a little goes a long way. My two favourite shades are; Armor & Slanted - these are just gorgeous!

The purple shade, Smolder is probably the biggest let down of the pallet as it comes out very dark and not very purple at all, but overall this pallet is stunning.

The packaging of this pallet is definitely my favourite yet from the Naked series. It's so easy to open and close, easy to keep clean and looks beautiful on my dresser too!

Although this pallet is aimed at creating the perfect smoky look (it even comes with a guide!) you're able to create so many different looks with it. It's simply gorgeous and I'm so glad I invested in this one too!

Have you guys bought the new pallet, what did you think?

GlamGlow Supermud Clearing Treatment Review

So this week I have been testing another much loved and raved product. This time it's the GlamGlow Supermud Clearing Treatment Mask.

I was in two minds whether to get this or not. The mask is quite pricey (£40 per pot), but after reading such good reviews I really wanted to try it out. After a sneaky bonus I decided to treat myself and take the leap!

This mask can be used to clear up acne, blackheads and breakouts. I was testing it mainly for blackheads and the odd breakout. My skin type is typically oily/combination.

Firstly the texture is smooth with an odd flake of what looks like seaweed. You only need a small layer on the area with the breakout, acne, etc. This then dries and changes colour. When drying the mask pulls out any excess oil and it shows up on your mask (a mix of nasty and fascinating). The mask does tingle a little and hardens when drying but that's the sign it's working.

So my thoughts. Well I did notice that my skin was clearer and tighter after using the mask however it does still miss the odd blackhead. I must admit after trying this on a couple of breakouts I fell in love with it a little more as it really did help. It dried it up and by morning the pimple was no longer!

Overall it's pretty amazing stuff, but I would use it sparingly so you get your monies worth.
For the price it's expensive but it will last a long time as you only treat the area in question and with a thin layer. I've used this a few times now and it hasn't even made a difference in the pot.
I think for the average user it will last between 9-12 months, not too shabby!

Make Your Cutlery Look New Again

Hi again and welcome back to my blog!

Today I'm talking about how I get my cutlery looking polished and new again. This is something that is key for any tea lover like myself!

After sometime our cutlery loses it's shine and stains start to sink in. Even with some elbow grease these sometimes don't come out. Well, I have a great little way you can get the stains off and your cutlery looking good as new with a few budget friendly items.

First of all you will need these:

- Kettle/Boiling Water
- Foil
- Baking Dish
- Baking Soda (1tbsp)
- Table Salt (1tbsp)

Then it's just a few simple steps:

1. Line your baking dish with the foil. I used a baking tray but it was almost overflowing, so perhaps a roasting tray would be better suited.

2. Put a handful of cutlery onto the tray (I did about 8 max at a time).

3. Put 1tbsp of the salt all over the cutlery & 1tbsp of the baking soda all over too.

4. Carefully pour the boiling water all over until all of the cutlery is covered with water.

5. Leave to soak for 30 minutes.

Once that's done you buff your cutlery as normal and the stains just wash straight off!

This is such an easy trick and saves so much time and money! These are my before and after results for you, just amazing!

Before

After

As you can see I had fantastic results! I just love this little trick.

I hope you found this useful and let me know if you would like anymore lifestyle and home tips :)

Loreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil Mist for Fine Hair Review

Hello!

This week I'm reviewing the Loreal Elvive Extraordinary Oil Mist (for fine hair).

I wasn't sure whether to buy this product as I was torn between a few options. Either my beloved, Kerastase Nectar Thermique, the raved Moroccan Oil Treatment or this little product. Now, honestly it came down to budget. I thought if this works, and it's half the price of my current treatment and is a lot cheaper than the Moroccan Oil than I'll be one happy lady. So I took my chances and bought the budget friendly option.

I was a bit sceptical at first, an oil... on fine hair - surely this will weigh my hair down and make it look greasy? Well, you apply a small amount to the lengths and ends of your hair when damp and once dry it leaves your hair smooth and easy to manage. And it really does!

For me the added bonus with this (other than price), is that you can use it when drying your hair naturally too (air dry, rather than hairdryer). The Kerastase Nectar Thermique weighed my hair down if I tried to do it with that, so it was never an option.

The only slight difference I saw was the finish wasn't as sleek as the Kerastase Nectar Thermique. It did leave my hair a little frizzy. Now I suppose it depends on what you're doing with your hair for the day. If you're having it up than you may not notice this anyway and it does calm down after a while (at least on my hair it does), or you can use another product to smooth over your hair.

For me I love the fact that this is so similar to the Moroccan Oil, yet is a nice budget version. I personally though, I still think I will try the Moroccan Oil. I don't like to use too much product on my hair and if I can use just one - even if it's a little more costly that ticks all the boxes than I may just may take the plunge. I think I will do a little more research on it first and see if I can use it while air drying my hair but I'm tempted.

Have you tried any of these products? Which hair treatment do you swear by? I would love to hear your comments and thoughts.

Thanks for reading :-)

Live a Little Happier

Hi,

This week I thought I would do something a little different and do a lifestyle post.

Now this is something that works for me and I've seen it work for others, but at the end of the day everyone is different. I don't claim to be an expert on giving lifestyle advice, in fact far from it! This is just what works for me and believe me I've been in some dark places, so this helped me regain my sanity.

These are a few things I do when I'm feeling low and some of which I do on a daily basis.

- Positive Mind = Positive Vibes = Positive Life
This is something I try and do everyday. If something is really getting me down I turn it on its head to make it positive, no matter how s*** things get. For example, "I feel lonely" turns into "Well at least I can get away with joggers and no makeup without feeling guilty". Or ,"Why did she say that about me? That's so nasty", turns to, "Well at least I now know and I can concentrate more on those who matter".

- Exercise
Now I'm not the best at this one but I try and at least go for a walk once a day or even do some sit ups. Getting some exercise helps keep those endorphins running through your system which have been proved to make you happier. What a good excuse to go for a walk! :)

- Fresh Air
This one is simple, but so effective. When you're feeling down nothing is worse than a stuffy house. Open up those windows, sit in the garden and regain your sanity. Take in a deep breath and remember tomorrow is a new day.

- Healthy Diet
Again, not one I'm the best with but I do try and eat a balanced diet. Just a few changes to your everyday routine and it could help you eat more fruit, drink more water and feel less groggy and more human. It's amazing how much of a difference you'll notice.

- Surround Yourself With Positive People
It's amazing how much of a difference it can make by surrounding yourself with the right people. People who encourage you to think things from a different perspective, who help you achieve your goals and who believe in you. One key feature in all those people though is they need to be positive. If they complain every time you see them, or focus on only the negative then you will subconsciously do it too. To help you stay positive and focus on your goals to be a happier person you will need happy and encouraging friends.

- Declutter
This one may sound odd to some but this really helps me. I think a cluttered house resembles a cluttered mind. To help me think clearer I clean and tidy the house, or even just a room. It helps me feel more at 'home' as it's one less stress to worry about. My surroundings then feel more comfortable and homely, meaning I'm happier.

- Do What You Love
This one sounds simple enough but in busy lifestyles sometimes it can be easily overlooked. Make sure you have 'down' time, 'you' time. Find yourself again and do whatever it is that you love. Listening to music, going to the cinema, seeing your friends - make sure you make time for what makes you happy. I try and do something everyday, no matter how small - a nice coffee from our tassimo machine, a nice walk, chat to a friend, have a bubble bath, etc. Find at least 30 minutes for 'you' everyday.

- Music
Music is the sound of the soul and I'm a firm believer of that. Now I'm a lover of music so this may not work as well for everyone, but whenever I need to lift my mood up I listen to upbeat music. Something that makes me want to sing and dance my way through life. No matter what life throws at me, music has always helped me through it all.

- Reflect
This one again is one that is easily forgotten. I think it's important that once in a while you sit and reflect on how far you've come. What you've achieved, what you've survived. Wow 5 years ago I was... and since then I've learned, I've changed, I've gained, I've gotten through, etc. You've made it this far, what new adventures are out there for you? What will today bring? :-)

Well that's my blog post for today. I hope you've enjoyed it and I hope this helps some of you who may want to live life a little happier.

Oxford Street Lush Haul

Hi,

Sorry for the late post but I was waiting to feature this special post that I've wanted to do for some time now, the Lush Oxford Street Haul!

Now firstly, the store - wow! It's on the ever so popular Oxford Street in London and has three levels (yes, three!!). Each is beautifully decorated and stocked with wonderful Lush goodies and to top it off the Lush Spa is also in this store! I was sold, and honestly whenever I'm in London now this is where I will be going for my bath goodies!

Anyhoo, so what did I get? Well to warn you I did purchase over 2kg worth of products so this post may be a long one but...

The Comforter Shower Gel (Oxford Street exclusive)
This was a given for me as I love the Comforter Bubble Bar. It's a sweet, candy like scent and has a slight shimmer in the gel too. I'm really looking forward to trying this one!

Supertramp Bubble Bar (Oxford Street exclusive)
This was a different one for me to choose as it has a woody scent, so not something I would typically pick. I thought I would venture out of my comfort zone and see if I can find a new love for more than citrus and sweet scents, watch this space!

Big Bang Bubble Bar (Oxford Street exclusive)
This is another woody scent bubble bar but with a deeper colour. I would say this scent is a little milder too so if you want something that bubbles up your bath but isn't too strong smelling this is a good one to try.

Intergalactic Bath Bomb (Oxford Street exclusive)
I have fallen in love with this bath bomb and I wish I bought more than just the one! If the name wasn't cute enough, it's also filled with popping candy and gives a magical display of colours when used in your bath. This would be a fab one for kids and big kids like me!

Bubblegum Lip Scrub
This is my second pot of this scrub and I love it! It's a little scrub you put on your lips to take away any flakes; leaving your lips lovely and soft, prepped and ready for lipstick! I love the scent and taste of this stuff (yes, you read that right), it's just so sweet and yummy!

Frozen Bath Bomb (Oxford Street exclusive)
I bought two of these as they just looked so lovely! They make your bath water turn into this shimmery blue colour and it just smells so calming. It's a milder scent and I would say it smells like a mild citrus and refreshing scent, hard to describe. I'm really looking forward to trying this out!

The Experimenter Bath Bomb (Oxford Street exclusive)
This one looked too fun to miss. It's a mixed colour bath bomb in a funky shape too - possibly the future of bath bombs? Ha! I'm looking forward to seeing what display this little treat will give me when I use it!

Dragon's Egg Bath Bomb
This bath bomb is soon becoming a favourite of mine (I have 3 already!). It has a gorgeous citrus scent to it and has cute little colours running inside it but is white all over - so very understated. This one makes my bath smell like refresher sweets, just so bright and refreshing, yet yummy too!

Twilight Bath Bomb
This is a constant purchase for me as it's my favourite ever bath bomb from Lush. It leaves your bath with a gorgeous purple/pink colour and smells of lavender. It's just perfect for a relaxing bath after a long day.

Monsieur Gustave Bath Melt (Oxford Street exclusive - I think?)
Honestly I picked this one up because of the colour; bright purple with shimmer! I'm looking forward to seeing how this looks in my bath!

Happy Thoughts Bath Melt (Oxford Street exclusive - I think?)
This little oil smells of oranges and just looks like fun to try. It's covered in a sugary like texture which may work as a gentle scrub when in your bath. I'm looking forward to seeing how this works in my bath!

Mmmelting Marshmallow Bath Melt (Oxford Street exclusive - I think?)
This has the same scent as before but has been reformed into a smaller, budget friendly version. This time with added shimmer too! If you like all things sweet, than this is a good one to go with!

Furze Bath Melt (Oxford Street exclusive - I think?)
This little one isn't pictured above as it got crushed in my bag (2kg worth of products will probably do it). It's a gorgeous little floral smelling oil and has a cute little purple flower inside too. Imagine lying in a field of flowers in the Summertime, well this is that scent! Lovely!

Have you visited the Oxford Street store, is there anything you would suggest I should try?

Elemis Pro Radiance Illuminating Flash Balm Review

Hi there!

This week I thought I would give you my thoughts on a new product I've been trying out; the Elemis Pro Radiance Illuminating Flash Balm.

Now honestly I hadn't heard a lot about this product before and I only tried this as my husband bought me a copy of Marie Claire and it had a sample included of this balm.

I wasn't sure how I would get on with it as it claimed to provide a lot. It's basically a light moisturiser that also claims it can also be used as a primer for under your makeup and to help shrink the appearance of pores. Also it claims to help smooth the skin and all while providing a nice and healthy 'glow' (phew!).

So how did I get on? Well.. I have oily/combination skin so a light moisturiser is great for me and in the past I've had trouble finding one that works well with my skin. This however is a godsend! After using it for a few days I actually noticed a nice glow from my skin (I actually caught my reflection and it made me gasp with delight). This stuff does give you a nice glow, I don't know how but my oh my I'm addicted!

It also keeps my skin hydrated all day and it really does help shrink the appearance of my pores! I never thought I would say that but it really does! It gives me a great smooth complexion which is perfect for then putting my makeup on too (nice primer as it also claims!). I have also noticed that any redness seems to be reduced too - added bonus!

I love the scent of the product too. It's a nice clean scent but it somehow reminds me of being on holiday - perhaps like an aftersun sort of smell - calming and balancing.

All in all I'm sold and have now bought a full size version of this stuff as I won't be using anything else. It's just a holy grail product for me now!

Have you guys tried this out?

Review on Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupté Lipsticks

Hello again guys!

Now this week I'm reviewing a couple of new lipsticks I've bought.

These were featured in my Summertime Haul blog and well if I'm honest I did buy them mainly because of the stunning packaging. Fear not though... I did do my usual amount of research and these were some popular lipsticks to say the least! They were voted by many bloggers as the most beautiful lipstick available so I was super excited to try these out.

After swatching many of the colours I picked out two...

Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupté Shine Lipstick in Pink in Paris
&
Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupté Lipstick in Peach Passion

The first;
Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupté Shine Lipstick in Pink in Paris was one of my absolute favourites as soon as I saw it (pictured above).

The finish of this lipstick is glossy and oh my is this lipstick gorgeous! It's highly pigmented too so only one layer on your lips and it has a full colour, however you can also build it up if you want your colour to have more 'pop'.

The second I bought was;
Yves Saint Laurent Rouge Volupté Lipstick in Peach Passion (pictured to the left).

This has a more sheer finish to it so lasts a touch longer on the lips. The colour a chose was a gorgeous deep coral colour. This colour is just perfect for Spring and Summer and I think it would suit just about everybody!

Obviously you can see that both lipsticks have the stunning YSL logo on them and a gorgeous gold surround.

Now at £26 these are pricey, but as a little goes a long way with these they do last a long time! Also they're a great treat to yourself or a little pick me up.

Honestly I would get these again but yes, it would have to be a treat. I was lucky enough to have one of these as a gift, but if you're feeling like getting yourself a nice new lipstick that will last and look gorgeous in your handbag - than look no further! :)

Finding The 'Perfect' Foundation

 Hello again!!

I'm one of those people that once I get an idea I need to follow it through... Probably something to do with OCD but hey ho.

This month I decided to set myself the task of finding the 'right balance' from my foundation. Now I'm in a funny old place with my current foundation (Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum) after my husband said it would get really shiny at the end of the day, less dewy and more oily than it previously did. Now I think this is because my skin in the Summer naturally gets a little more oily and so dewy foundations won't give me the finish I'm happy with anymore. Thus my search for a new foundation.

So I trialled... a load of different foundations to try and figure out what is best for my oily skin and what would pass my little 'tests'.

First of all, what I was looking for out of my foundation:
- Something easy to apply, quick and painless. I don't have time to buff for 15 minutes anymore.
- Something that matched my skin tone
- Something preferably budget friendly

Maybelline Superstay Better Skin
£8.99
Pros: Budget friendly.
Cons: Sticks to imperfections and dry patches.
Summary: I wouldn't buy this again as it just doesn't sit on my skin very well.

Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation
£8.99
Pros: Budget friendly. Gorgeous finish.
Cons: Not enough shade range.
Summary: I love the gel formula of this and although the colour doesn't quite match me I find myself buying this over and over. A great budget friendly foundation!

Nars Sheer Glow Foundation
£31.00
Pros: Great shade range. Gorgeous finish.
Cons: Expensive. No pump.
Summary: The finish of this is beautiful. As quoted by many other Sheer Glow fans, 'It's my skin, but better'... It really is! It's a medium coverage but with a super light feel - I love it. I feel as if my skin can breathe and look natural, yet this magical foundation covers all my redness and imperfections.

Loreal Infallible 24H Stay Fresh Foundation
£9.99
Pros: Budget friendly.
Cons: Not enough shade range.
Summary: The finish of this is quite nice but I wouldn't say it competes with the Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum. Also the shade range isn't great meaning that this takes a LOT of blending to look match my skin tone. I think for the really fair skin types though this one may be great as the lightest shade is super light! I think I may try it again in the Winter when my (very slight) tan has faded.

Mac Pro Long Wear Nourishing Waterproof Foundation
£25.50
Pros: Waterproof. Great shade range.
Cons: Expensive.
Summary: This one is great but very thick so use only a tiny amount! I wouldn't want to use this on a daily basis because of the price and how much blending is required (once it's dry, it's dry and there is no budging!). But for Summer, holidays and the beach - this would be fantastic!

Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation
£29.50
Pros: Great shade range. SPF 10 included.
Cons: Expensive. No pump and heavy glass bottle.
Summary: This is very similar to the one above by Mac in that it needs a lot of blending as it dries and then doesn't move! It doesn't claim to be waterproof however I imagine it would stay put pretty well as well. I think I prefer the finish of this one slightly more over the Mac Pro Long Wear but again the blending is just too much work on a daily basis for me. I would use this one for either holidays, special occasions or big nights out as I'm sure it would stay put really well.

Honestly after trying all these I still seem to be going back to Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum. I just love how easy it is to apply and how long lasting it is, with a nice medium coverage. My only issue with this foundation is that the shade is a little too dark for me (even the palest shade). If I have a heavy day I can get shiny but that's where I would just have to touch it up with some blotting paper or powder. For a big day out I would switch to the Nars Sheer Glow as this foundation is just beautiful but it does require a little more blending than the Bourjois foundation.

So really I guess to find a 'perfect' foundation my search is still ongoing. How did you guys get on with these? Do you have any suggestions for me to try?

Thanks for reading!

Apps for Modern Mommies

Hello again!

This week I thought I would share with you my most favoured app's now I'm a Mom. Now these are the one's that I use now I'm a Mom so they're fairly new and I haven't bothered including a list of all my apps, just those a little more Mommy related.

Sound Sleeper - This is by far a life saver for us! My husband discovered this app when our little one was a newborn and was a little unsettled. If you download the free version you get 30 minutes of free play to see what/if the sounds work on your little one. Even now this comes in handy!

Annabel - This is a baby food and weaning guide in one. I love this as it tells me on the go what I need to buy when food shopping and is much easier to follow on my phone than by a book - not something I'd usually say for me but it just works!

Peak - I downloaded this trying to help my baby brain get a test and try and improve it back to it's pre-baby state. I love that you can set a goal and reminder of when you would like to test yourself and I try and do it every day, even if sometimes I don't get the time.

Lifesum - This app is really handy for Mommies trying to either lose their pregnancy weight or just watch what they're eating. Honestly this is just a dieting and healthy eating app, not just for Moms but for anyone. I used this before I was pregnant too and it really helps me stay on track on what I'm ok to eat. I love the fact is also takes into account any physical exercise you've been doing so you know roughly what you've burnt off.

The Wonder Weeks - This app is focused on your baby's development. For me, I just find it super comforting and interesting when I know what my baby is going through but also going to get out of each leap. Each leap your baby will learn new skills but it comes at a price - a fuss, hard to please, crazy, nightmare child some of the time - but they're learning and growing... so at the end of it they should or are close to getting a new skill - it's fascinating!

Rhymes - I love having this to hand to play to my Son and sing along to. I don't remember all nursery rhymes so this one is great to help me learn the words again and get us both used to it. Our little one loves it and presses the screen to see what moves and sings - oh did I mention it's free too?!

Well those are my top 'Mom' apps that I've been using. Do you guys have any apps that you would suggest I give a go?

My Essie Nail Polish Collection

Hi and welcome back to my blog!

I'm on a bit of a roll at the moment with my blog posts as I'm trying to keep myself organised for you all.

This week something a little different, my Essie nail polish collection!

I'll be honest, before collecting them all together I was expecting a lot but it looks like I have a lot more Barry M than I do Essie (probably something to do with the price tag!), anyhoo here we go anyway! :)

My shades of choice are:

Pure Pearlfection - A clear coat of sparkles and shimmer - a great top coat.
Time For Me Time - This is a gorgeous shimmery pink nude. I love this shade all year round.
Sunday Funday - This is one of my go-to Summer shades. It's a gorgeous orange/red shade and has a little shimmer running throughout too.
Mint Candy Apple - This is a wonderful shade for Springtime. It's just the perfect mint colour and reminds me of Tiffany's!
Eternal Optimist - A gorgeous purple/pink shade with a little shimmer. Great for Summer by the beach!
After Sex - This is a clear Winter and Xmas shade! It's just a gorgeous deep red that is very sexy too (probably why they picked that name!).
Madison Ave-Hue - This is a beautiful dirty pink shade. It's just a rebelise pink and I love that about this shade!
Pink Diamond - This is a frosty pink shade and is great in the Spring and Summertime to show off your tan. I just how pigmented this shade is too.
Figi - To finish a huge Essie fan favourite, Figi! This is one for everyone's collection. A good pinky nude all year round and is just stunning! If you haven't got it make sure you go and buy one - it's just beautiful!

Thanks for reading guys! :)
